Clash of Clans review

Clash of Clans is an epic battle strategy game. It is where you build your city and raise a strong army and battle the goblins or other players. I find Clash of Clans to be more fun than basic town builder apps because you do more than just make your place beautiful, you must make it defensive.

Clash of Clans is all about battling.

The resources of Clash of Clans are known as Gold, Elixir, and Dark Elixir. While you can get them with collectors, the primary way to obtain them is to raid other players. But watch out! Players will raid you, so you should keep your Gold and Elixir storages in the highest defense possible. Dark Elixir is very rare.

My city!

When you attack, the main goals are usually the Town Hall and the storages. When you destroy the Town Hall, you will automatically gain one star. However, you can gain more stars by destroying more. Winning a battle will gain you trophies. Trophies are like your points so you can get up the leaderboards. However, to become the top player you will have to fight hard!

To defend your city, Clash of Clans utilizes a large amount of weapons. The most basic weapon is the cannon, a weapon that does a fair amount of damage to ground troops. However, the Archer Tower is stronger and can hit air units, but is slower. The Morter is one of the strongest defenses in the game, destroying many troops at a time with a big explosion, but it is very slow. The Air Defense has both high damage and a high rate of fire, but it can only hit air troops.

When you attack, you need to get troops. The troops are trained with Elixir in the barracks and when finished, are sent to the army camps. All of them have different streangths and weaknesses!

The Barbarian is the most basic troop. His stats are all average. A large army of barbarians can mow down a base, but look out for the Morters!

The barbarian is cheap to train, but weak in combat.

The Archer is quite weaker than the Barbarian, but can shoot over walls. However, the fact that they don’t move much makes them easy targets. They are very popular for the fact that they can destroy out of reach buildings, but can get defeated quite easily.

Archers can shoot over walls, but can be quickly destroyed.

The Goblin is one of the fastest troops. He rushes right to the loot and begins to collect it for you. However, he can get beat quite fast, and he won’t attack defenses, so the goblin may get surrounded  and die.

Goblins will get you the loot, as long as they don't die!

The Giant can withstand a lot of hits and goes for the defenses. But he both moves and attacks slowly, so a all-giant assault isn’t a good idea. They are best used as a shield for weaker troops like Barbarians.

The Giant might be slow, but he can soak up hits and defend weaker troops.

The Wall Breaker goes for walls. This makes him useful for getting to the loot, however he can easily be killed. To best use them, send out a troop of giants to block the defenses, and then have the wall breaker blow the wall up.

The Wall Breaker kills himself with his attack, but it can smash walls better than any troop!

The Balloon is the first flying unit unlocked in the game. He goes for defences, so is great for defeated cannons and morters without getting hurt. However, they are slow and so can easily be picked off by Air Defenses and even Archer Towers.

Cannons can't hit the flying balloon, however it can't survive against an Archer Tower or Air Defense for long.

The Wizard is like an upgraded archer. His magic bolts do far more damage than the arrows, and can also go over walls! A troop of wizards can wreak a base, but although they can take more damage than barbarians or archers, will quickly fall to the defenses without help by Giants, Healers, or other troops.

The Wizard's power is mighty, however he won't last long by himself.

The Healer is the only troop that does not attack. Instead, she heals. A Healer will let your ground troops last much longer, but if she gets close to an air defense she will quickly die.

Although the Healer can't attack, her support is very valuable for your army.

Although the Healer can’t attack, her support is very valuable for your army.

The Dragon is, in my opinion, the greatest troop. He can fly and does tons of damage. It has a fairly average speed as well. It can take ages for an archer tower to beat it, but even a dragon can fall to an Air Defense. Use Wizards and Giants to destroy the Air Defenses, and then use Healing and Rage spells to keep your dragons alive if your other troops can’t destroy them all.

The powerful dragon has everything a Balloon has, only stronger. Just keep him away from the Air Defenses!

The Pekka is the strongest normal troop in the game. He has massive power, and can take even more damage than the dragon. However, the problem with them is that the cannons and morters can effect them, therefor causing them to take more damage than a Dragon that is not near a air defense.  Also, electric attacks do more damage to it than anything else.

A Pekka has great power, but it is weak to electric attacks and it can be hit by cannons, unlike dragons.

The Minion is the first troop that can be bought with the hard to find Dark Elixir. They are the weakest air troops. This allows them to swarm cities in large numbers, but Air Defences can beat them in one hit, and archers towers also very fast. However, the Air Defence can only hit one at a time, and so a gang of minions can overwhelm one and destroy it.

Minions are the weakest air troop, but can be bought in large quantities.

The Hog Rider is a unique troop. It can jump over walls! This allows them to quickly clear the way for other troops because they destroy the defenses, and they can take lots of hits. However, jumping into the midst of the city will expose them to a lot of stuff.

The Hog Rider leaps over walls to destroy all defenses in his way.

Valkyries are stronger than most troop of their size so don’t underestimate them. They are good for many things but with their spin attack, they can smash through walls quicker than most troop except for the Wall Breaker.

Valkyries are great for smashing down walls and many other things.

The Golom is the ultimate version of the Giant. Although it is even slower, Goloms can take more hits than any other troop and even explode into smaller versions of themselves when they die!

The Golom is more resistant than anything else in the game!

The Witch is another unique troop. She can summon hoards of skeletons to aid your army. She will also attack with magic. She is weak though, so it is best to use her after you get a good part of your army out, so she will support with wave after wave of undead warriors.

As long as you have a Witch in your army, she'll make sure that you will have new troops.

The Lava Hound is the newest troop in Clash of Clans. He is a flying version of a Golom that goes for the Air Defences. His damage is low and very slow, so he is best used for distracting the air defenses while dragons, balloons, or minions destroy the city.

When you distract an Air Defense with a Lava Hound, Dragons, Balloons, and Minions can destroy the base more easily.

The Barbarian King is, above all, the most powerful troop in the game. He can take tons of damage and can deal it out more than anyone, and moves pretty fast, and can summon barbarians to his aid! However, he costs a lot of dark elixir to buy. However, once you buy him he stays forever!

The Barbarian King is the most powerful troop of all.

The Archer Queen is slightly weaker than the barbarian king, however she may be more useful because she can shoot over walls, having a large crossbow. She can summon archers.

In some ways, the Archer Queen is even better than the Barbarian King.

Clash of Clans is an awesome game. As long as new troops and defenses keep on being added, it will always remain one of my favorite app games. If  you don’t have it, you should consider it!
